I am a theologian by training to live with what I believe in that teology is not about playing words or debating discourses. I have seen in my life that theology is a study but also it is about how to live with what we believe in.
In this blog, I am taking my perspectives as a female theologian who had an opportunity to study various disciplines for helping my society. My training in theology was to specialize on the biblical study when I was at undergraduate at STT Jakarta. I was lucky to be part of an intelectual community which was proud of having older professors to teach young high school graduates like myself. Up to now, I though I learned the way they built my understanding of thinking through their questions. Late Prof Ihromi, Latuihamallo, Eka Darmputera, Liem Kiem Yang, Wismoady Wahono, Sidjabat, Haskin, Abineno, Victor Tanja, Boelke and Brownlee and others. They were all with their charecteristics of knowledge had dept influences to me.
Then I studied a philosophy at Driyarkara Philosophy Insitute which is a Jesuit School. While still studying I was asked to do an evaluation at The Center for Analysis and Training of Rural Development (Pusat Pengkajian dan Latihan Pengembangan Pedesaan) in Tobelo. This work brought me to resign from the philosophical studies to concentrate working with people. I remember meeting Romo Magnis Suseno whom blessed me to return to Halmahera after my visit to resign from his school. He was a wise father for me.
Yes leaving Jakarta to work in Halmahera was to reconcile with all my pain of lossing my father after his death in 1989. There I found my life back. It is too long to share now, I will try combining my writing with my personal journey. What I want to say that theology is a process of discovering ourselves to make meaning to the entire life of heart, spirit, strengths and mind. Theology is about our commitment to follow God in His way.
Coming from Jakarta to live in the remote places and moved from one vilage to another, I have kept my stories to include into my dissertation but still there are many to revisit in a new perspective especially bringing my side as a woman.
Returning to Central Java, in Salatiga to earn my learning from my other gurus like Arief Budiman, Arief Heryanto, Liek Wilarjo, George Adijondro from the developmental studies and those other from Religions and Society like John Titaley, the late Sumartana, Bernard Adeney, Sugeng, Frances Adeney Srenock and others..perhaps now it is the time when I can reflect all the process of how we doing theology to transform us and others.
Let start now!
